We were a tad surprised to see Buddy Guy billed as the opening act for the George Thorogood concert at Casino del Sol's AVA on Wednesday night.
Sure, Thorogood has the selling power. Mr. "Bad to the Bone" has toured with his heavy-handed blues rock since the early '70s and has the platinum records to show for it.
But Guy is an iconic Chicago legend who has inspired generations of musicians from Eric Clapton to John Mayer. It's hard to fathom why he's not in the headlining spot.
In any case, Guy will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., with Thorogood and his Destroyers on after that. Tickets for the concert are $29-$69 through casinodelsol.ticketforce.com.
