The Illinois band known as Headlights is a shining example of peppy indie pop, but they do pack a punch.
Spin magazine calls them "cutie-pie pop rockers who can still hold their own in a fight . . . charming, but never boring."
Though its sound combines bells and fun drumbeats and happy guitar chords, the band toys with darker themes and melancholy lyrics on its latest effort, "Wildlife."
Headlights, often compared to groups such as Stars and Belle and Sebastian, will play at Plush at 9 p.m. Sunday. The Pomegranates and Anni Rossi will open. Tickets are $7.
