Alice Gallardo's grandson Michael Gallardo has ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease and is treated by his mother; Alice's daughter Bridgette Gallardo at their home in the Menlo Park neighborhood. The home, which was a welding shop, had an apartment in the rear that was redone for Michael, 32, when he got sick two years ago.
