Kevon Looney (UCLA)
Drafted: No. 30 by the Golden State Warriors
Position: Power Forward
The team: The Warriors, of course, won the NBA Championship in beating the Cleveland Cavaliers recently.
The roster: There will certainly be no rush for Looney to play right away on a team like this. He was always someone labeled as “raw” by most scouts anyway, so it’s hard to beat the situation he’s getting into. Wouldn’t be surprised if Looney spent some time with the Warriors D-League affiliate. Golden State might try and trade David Lee, though, so an outside chance he gets some time off the bench, if not at the beginning of the season than later. In Steve Kerr we trust.
What people are saying: ''With our roster, the way it's constructed, it would be hard for anybody we drafted to get a chance to crack the rotation. He’s a skilled player and he fits our system. He's a good shooter ... so he's got some upside. Whoever you draft at 30, they're going to have to get better no matter who it is.'' — Warriors general manager Bob Myers to AP.
