WATERS, James L "Jim"
76, left us with his family by his side at home on September 23, 2017 from a disabling stroke. Preceded by parents, Jim and Marion; survived by wife, Nancy; sons, Mark and Scott (Mary); daughter, Megan (Jeff); brothers, Bill (Marcia) and Steve; sisters, Marilyn and Janet (Mike); grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends. The Waters' family moved to Tucson from Burlington, Iowa for their father's health, where Jim graduated from Salpointe High School. During his junior year, his father died. After school, he worked at the Arizona Inn in the dining room and in the summer at the swimming pool as a lifeguard to help his mother support the family. Jim graduated from the University of Arizona, where he earned two degrees, he also completed four years of ROTC training and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force where he served four years as an instructor pilot. He then worked his entire career as a commercial pilot for Continental and USAirways. He then retired to Tucson. Jim loved his family, playing guitar, singing, writing songs, gardening and traveling. He will be remembered as an honest generous hardworking family man, always willing to help others and never asking for anything in return. He will be cremated. There will be a private family service. Contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Wounded Warriors and Salvation Army appreciated. May the winds of love blow softly and whisper so you'll hear we will always love you, and wish that you were here. Rest in Peace. The Waters Family.
