Cyla Rottenstein
passed away peacefully on April 6, 2012. Cyla was born in Bialystok, Poland on July 21, 1921. When she was a young girl, her family, early Zionist settlers, moved from Poland to help establish the State of Israel. There she shared in the joy of celebrating Israeli statehood. As a young woman she immigrated to Brooklyn, New York where she married and then raised her only child, Myron as a single, working mother. She is survived by her son, Myron (Anna) and her two grandchildren, Aaron (Stephanie Bowers) and Rebecca. Cyla was a fighter her whole life and her fierce spirit enabled her to overcome many obstacles. Devout in her faith, she supported many Jewish causes and organizations dear to her. Upon moving to Tucson over 20 years ago she volunteered at Handmaker and Congregation Anshei Israel. Burial was in New York as Cyla had always wanted. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Cyla's name to the Handmaker Foundation for the Center for Alzheimer's & Dementia Care or to Congregation Anshei Israel.
