LAURIA, Salvatore "Sam"
born in Buffalo, New York on May 23, 1928 to Catherine and Carmelo Lauria. He moved to Tucson in November 1958 and made Tucson his new home. Sam passed away on November 26, 2016. Prior to his retirement in January 1997, Sam had served Pima County as the Chief Building Inspector for over 20 years. Prior to that, he was employed by the Marana School District as the school's Maintenance Supervisor. Sam was a fun loving person and enjoyed the great outdoors. In the early 1970's he designed and built his own modest cabin among the tall pines in Pinetop, Arizona. There he and his loving wife, Sue spent much of their time fishing, golfing and entertaining. Sue preceded him in death in March 2000. He also was preceded in death by his brother, James Lauria of Lake View, New York. Sam is survived by his two daughters, Gail (Robert) Dutcher and Dianne (Conrad) Gutierrez; a son, Sam (Harriet) Lauria; four lovely grandchildren, Robert Wade (Catherine) Dutcher, Samuel Thomas Lauria, Katie Renee Lauria and Martin Javier Gutierrez and three beautiful great-grandsons, Garner Bo Dutcher, Everett Robert Dutcher and Samuel James Lauria. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Mary Nancy Lauria of Lake View, New York. Sam will be greatly missed by all including his devoted cat "Twixie". At Sam's request no services will be held.
