Evashevski, Helen Frances
went into eternal life on April 8, 2016. Born Helen Schnepf to Theresa and Frederick Schnepf on November 21, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan. Helen attended Detroit public schools and obtained BS and MHE degrees from Wayne State University and was elected into Phi Upsilon Omicron, the National Home Economics Honor Society. Beginning in 1940 Helen taught home economics for 30 years in Dearborn, Michigan during which she also served on the planning committee of a new Junior High and was Supervisor of Homemaking Education for the school district. In 1973 Helen began a long distance romance with Kenneth Evashevski, an old college friend. Helen and Ken married in France in August 1973. Without children of her own, Helen was gifted an extended family who loved and adored her. Helen moved to Tucson with her husband in 1975, up on his retirement, and spent her summers boating in San Diego. In 1978, upon the death of her husband, Helen began living full time in Tucson, AZ. Helen was highly active in the community through her involvement with Assistance League, Cooperative Extension Service, Skyline Women's Club and Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) To her adopted family, Helen was a rock, advisor, defender and best friend. She always had a smile, sage advice and words of reassurance when it was most needed. Helen was brave, resolute and resourceful in the face of adversity and met each day with joy, love and mischief. She will be greatly missed. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Evashevski; daughter, Barbara (William) Davis and many close friends and relatives. She is survived by her cousin, Charlotte Rath of Tucson, AZ; son, Bruce (Joan) Evashevski of Evergreen, CO; grandsons, Keith (Anetra) Evashevski of Laramie, WY and Kyle (Andrea) Evashevski of Denver CO, Trevor Davis of Tucson, AZ, Corinne Rodrigues of Belo Horizonte, Brazil and Kendall (Adam) Pendlebury of Tucson and by great- grandchildren, Paige and Luke Evashevski, Denver, CO, Kevin Rodrigues of Belo Horizonte, Brazil and by her dear friend and neighbor Mercedes Gonzalez. Services Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.
