Paula "Polly" Ruiz Castaneda
born on October 21, 1931 in Gamerco, New Mexico, to Mrs. Aurelia Saiz and Mr. Lucio Ruiz. Went to rest to await the Resurrection, Sunday, September 2, 2012, in Tucson, Arizona. Paula moved to Clifton, Arizona where she met and married the love of her life, Ventura Castaneda on February 19, 1949. Ventura considered her his soul mate and best friend. She was the oldest of 14 children. In the summer of 1983, Paula dedicated her life to serving Jehovah and was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was an exemplary witness of Jehovah by displaying self-sacrificing love in many, extraordinary ways. Her passion for living, auxiliary pioneering, unwavering faith in Jehovah, and her belief that all people have more in common than differences allowed her to face her last challenge with strength and hope. We appreciate this in the way she lived her life by showing hospitality, unconditional love and kindness to others. Paula was a consummate mother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. To Paula, love for her family and friends meant everything. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, jewelry making and was a talented singer. Paula was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Nicholas Isaiah Dominguez. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ventura Castaneda and their children, Cecilia Casias Castaneda of Tucson, Arizona, Joe V. Castaneda (Roberta) of Phoenix, Arizona, Mona Ochoa (Frank) of Morenci, Arizona, Bobby Castaneda, Sr., (Dora) of Tucson, Arizona and Paul J. Castaneda (Bernadine) of Marana, Arizona. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Cecilia Casias Castaneda, lovingly cared for her during the past ten years of her life. The family gives her and everyone else who cared for Paula their greatest gratitude. A Memorial celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at The Kingdom Hall, 1910 San Antonio Dr., Tucson, AZ.
