Antonio C. "Tony" Ordonez
was born June 23, 1936. He completed his journey on earth on August 14, 2013 and went to be with our Lord in heaven. Tony blessed this earth with his love, kindness, and strong work ethic, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Tony was born in Mexico, D.F. and found his way to Tucson, AZ at the age of 16. Tony married his beautiful bride Petra in 1958 and both settled in South Tucson where they raised their eight wonderful children. Tony was well known in the Tucson construction business and maintained a masonry business for over 50 years. Tony played a major part in the development of numerous neighborhoods like the 49er's Country Club, Ventana Canyon, Tanuri Hills, Rio Verde Vista, Columbus Park, Arbor Vista, Rancho Sin Vacas, Cat 10, to name a few. Tony was an original pioneer who introduced Soccer to Tucson. He played, coached, and developed young kids to not only be successful players on the soccer field, but in being responsible men and women throughout their lives. Tony was a strong family man and believed in the traditional values of family and home. These beliefs continue to thrive in the hearts of his children, grandchildren and the many people he touched throughout his 77 years on earth. Tony is survived by his wife, Petra Martinez Ordonez; his children, Irene (Darryl) Swink, Olivia Ordonez, Sally Ordonez, Alicia (David) Valencia, Cecilia (Cruz) Delgado, Tony (Guadalupe) Ordonez, Jr., Adan (Caroline) Ordonez and Abraham (Priscilla) Ordonez. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, August 19, 2013, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS, 2580 S. 6th Avenue. Mass will be offered Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Avenue.
