Darold D. Streiff
On Monday, July 7, 2014 the world lost a great man and a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Darold Dean Streiff passed away at the age of 77 in Tucson, AZ. He was taken to Peppi's House where he stayed in the hospice until pneumonia took his life. Darold was born May 29, 1937 in Ledyard, Iowa. Preceded in death by his parents Haven and Florence Streiff. His two brothers, Larry and Marvin Streiff both reside in Minnesota. He married his wife Shirley Ann Wilson in Amarillo, TX on December 17, 1960 and that's where their love story began. He served in the Air Force for 20 years moving from place to place due to his military services. One of those locations being Vietnam where he fought in the Vietnam War. After Vietnam he was stationed in Japan where he joined the Masons club. He retired from the Air Force in November 1977 as a Master Sergeant. After his retirement he and his wife moved to Tucson where he began working with Patio Pools and 20 years later retired again. While living in Tucson he started his family. He had one daughter Michele D. Sowers (Streiff) born July 11, 1982. In 2002, she married Ryan Sowers and together they gave him four grandchildren, Desiree (15), Gavin (11), Logan (10), and Lindsey (8 mos.). These children instantly became his world. He was a wonderful man who put everyone before himself. His favorite things in life were his family and his cars. That man could watch NASCAR for days! He may have made it to 77 but he always was and always claimed to be 39. His wish was to be cremated and have his ashes spread in the White Mountains. His family will be carrying out his wishes.
