BUFFINGTON, Robert O. "Buff"
died quietly at his home in Tucson on March 13, 2017, surrounded by family. Buff was born in Cottonwood Falls, KS, on July 15, 1930 to Sophie (Warner) Buffington and Walter Buffington. He was the fifth of six children: Marie, Walter Jr., James, Marjorie (died in infancy), and Bonnie. He married his first wife, Ann (Green) Buffington, in 1951; they had four children and divorced in 1976. Buff served in the Navy Hospital Corps during the Korean War. He spent 30 years working for the Bureau of Land Management. After retiring, he spent five years working in Lesotho, Southern Africa. There he met and married Sandra Sue (Tebben) Buffington in 1983. He is survived by his wife, Sandra and a large, loving family: son, Rob and daughter-in-law, Megan; their children (Sam and wife Laura (their children Victor and Charles), Owen, Docia and her husband Abdul Assiz-Hassan (their children Lucius and ShirleyAlice) and Frances); daughter, Sidney Buffington and her children, Nelson Carrasco (his daughters, Ocean and Amaranth) and Alicia Carrasco (husband, Andrew Schneider); daughter, Betsy Buffington and daughter, Nancy Buffington and her sons, Jesse and Gabriel Moneyhun. A Celebration of Buff's life will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Tanque Verde Lutheran Church in Tucson.
