Angela McCormick Bernal
A memorial mass will be offered in loving memory of Angela McCormick Bernal (Puya) on Friday, August 26, 2011 at Santa Cruz Parish at 10:30 a.m.. Angie was born on August 27, 1937 and passed on January 19, 2011. Angie left behind five children Misty, Bennett, Bernie, Bryon, Brock and grandchildren whom she spoiled with tremendous love and kindness, a brother Mario (Cecilia), cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her as a big sister and sorely miss her. Angie graduated from Pueblo High School, class of 1957 where her popularity and natural beauty led to her being selected Homecoming Queen. Her career included working for the Pima County Sheriff's Department, Tucson Public Library, AZ Motor Vehicle Department, Flowing Wells and Amphitheater School Districts. As a descendant of the 2nd Territorial Governor of Arizona, Richard C. McCormick, Angie loved to hear family stories from her favorite aunt, Francisca (Panchita) Quiroz, as they applied to Angie's grandfather Lorenzo and his twin brother, Gregorio. From the moment of her birth, Panchita Quiroz nurtured a loving relationship with Angie as though she were her daughter. Angie remained close to her aunt up to the time of Panchita's passing. Angie, your warm, radiant smile and memories of your charismatic gifts remain with us and will forever be treasured. Rest in peace Puya, your loving children, grandchildren, brother, cousins, nieces and nephews, and host of friends.
