David LeRoy Goodenough
age 78, passed away in Tucson on July 1, 2014. David was born on September 24, 1935 and grew up in Fillmore, CA on an orange orchard. David continues to hold a shot-put record at Fillmore High school where he is in the athlete Hall of Fame. David graduated from Occidental College in 1959. After living in Seattle, WA, Oahu, Hawaii and Fremont, CA, he and his family settled down in Tucson in 1967. David was a long time business man in the community and belonged to the Centurions. He loved the outdoors and had a second home in Alpine, Arizona for many years. Each fall he looked forward to hearing the elk bugle in the meadow. Another long time avocation was weather watching. He kept official rainfall records at his home in Tucson for over 40 years. He believed that children were the spice of life and greatly enjoyed watching his family expand to include children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His house was always open to them. Most weekends and holidays found him next to the pool, grilling dinner for friends and family. David was preceded in death by his son, Christopher David Goodenough. He is survived by children and grandchildren, Wendy Marcus, Sandra Seaman (Wayne), Jamie MacKenzie (Bruce), Leilani, David and Alexis Goodenough, Rachel Callaway (Sean), Christine Reeves (David), Steven and Matthew Seaman (Samantha) and nine great-grandchildren, including Laurence Goodenough. David was greatly loved and will be missed by his family and friends. A private celebration of David's life was held by his family. This obituary was written in loving memory of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
