DAVIS, Thelma Elizabeth 4/30/1920 - 6/5/2017
Thelma passed away peacefully on June 5, 2017 in Tucson at the age of 97. She was born on a small farm in rural Tennessee which had been in the Wilson family since the mid 1700's and lived there until high school graduation. She moved to Nashville where she met Glen Davis and they were married in 1942. They had two children and Thelma remained a homemaker throughout their 55 years of marriage. Glen was a career army officer so Thelma and the kids were with him in Kentucky, Washington State, Japan, Tennessee, California and Okinawa. Upon Glen's retirement in 1965 they moved to Arizona and lived in Tucson since 1971. They were both very active in the Presbyterian Church and attended Christ Presbyterian on Broadway for over 40 years. She was an avid reader, seamstress, gardener and an aficionado of classical music. She was adored by her friends and family and was always an example of how to live life with grace and dignity. Glen passed away in 1997 and his ashes are at rest at East Lawn Cemetery. Thelma lived alone for over 15 years before she moved into assisted care during which she continued to be active in the church, her community and with her two children. She is survived by her daughter, Constance Clark in Orland, California; her son, Don in Tucson and her sister, Dorothy Gambill in Ocala, Florida. Her ashes will be placed alongside Glen's at East Lawn Cemetery.
