Our father was greeted to his own private party in heaven Monday, June 2, 2014. Dad enjoyed retirement for 32 years with many trips, cruises and UofA events. He had a special love for the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. Dancing with his wife, Evangeline to many waltzes was a joy to watch. Riding bikes around Reid Park with his grandchildren allowed him to spend quality time with them. Many stories shared with his gym rats, as he loved exercising. Entertainment was complete with coaching, and watching his grandchildren in all their sports activities while he questioned coaches, umpires and referees. Barbecues were a favorite with family simply because it brought everyone together. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evangeline; sister, Josephine Tapia; sons, George (Irene), David (Jill), Benny (Terry), Susie (Mike Balog), Tommy (Tammy) and Charlie (Terry); 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and cousins that he loved dearly. A special thank you to Oshyn Hospice and all his caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at St. Pius Church, 1800 Camino Pio Decimo. Arrangements by FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTH LAWN.
