COOK, Kay
died June 12, 2016, in Oro Valley at age 88. Born in Salt Lake City, raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kay attended Stanford University, majoring in Biological Sciences. Early in her freshman year she met John Cook. They were married in Idaho Falls, First Presbyterian Church, in 1948. After Stanford they moved to Mansfield, Ohio, where John joined the family business. Except for the period 1951-1953 when John served in Korea as a US Army officer, they remained in Mansfield until retirement. In 1984 they moved to Tucson's Fairfield in the Foothills. Kay was an avid birder, gardener, reader, bridge player, and follower of politics and current events. She was a former member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and long-time student of Pima Community College's non-credit course in Current Events. In recent years she and John have lived in the Splendido Community, Oro Valley. Kay is survived by her husband and two sons and their families. She has seven grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Splendido in the Catalina Room.
