RICHELSON, Rose
7/26/1919 - 9/7/2017 RICHELSON, Nathan 12/5/1920 - 5/25/1995
Rose Richelson passed away of heart failure on September 7, 2017. Born to Tseyna and Benjamin Michalofsky, Rose was raised in Manhattan NYC where she graduated from Julia Richmond High School. In 1947 Rose married Nathan Richelson in Manhatten. Rose and Nat drove to Tucson in 1957 with their two boys, Harvey and Gary, and Rose's parents. They settled in Tucson, initially at the Copper Cactus Motel on Drachman St, bought a home, then opened Har-Gar Distributors, which operated for decades throughout Arizona. Rose much appreciated being witness to Tucson history (e.g., the outdoor movie theaters, renting riding horses at Pantano Wash, the opening of the original El Con), and enjoyed recalling those memories. 60 years in Tucson; Rose never lost her New York accent. Nathan Richelson, born 1920, died 1995, was a superb salesman and entrepreneur. Solid service, good humor, low prices. Nat loyally served the Jewish War Veterans at Friedman Paul Post #201 over several decades, including as Post Commander. He was proud to be invited to the Reagan White House to participate in a policy discussion concerning the mid-East. Nat was a good carpenter and a good neighbor. Rose was with Nathan for 48 years, until his death. Rose and Nathan are predeceased by their parents and siblings. They are survived by sons, Gary (Carol) and Harvey, and by three grandchildren, Sarah, Julie and David. Nephews and a niece also survive them. A joint memorial celebration will be announced later.
