Mary Elizabeth Sussdorff Claiborne
age 86, passed away November 14, 2014 in her sleep. Born in Latvia but raised in New Orleans, she chose to live in the Southwestern desert for 28 years until her death. A graduate of Newcomb Art College, Elizabeth was an artist who worked in oil and clay, and designed jewelry. Elizabeth supported Tucson and New Orleans artists, and was an avid supporter of animal rights organizations. She loved Rottweilers, family gatherings, desert light and good books. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth; sons, Omer, Rene and Edward; six grandchildren and her sister, Laura S. Melancon.
