Rachel Rendon
Born December 3, 1930, passed away on January 14, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard O. Rendon; her daughter, Christiane "Chipper" Henning and sons, Richard "Rick" Rendon, Mark Rendon and Matthew Rendon. She was lucky to have two wonderful daughters-in-law, Sheri Rendon and Cherish Rendon. She spoiled her grandchildren, Winston, Greg, Michelle and Rachel. She was happiest when her family was around her; in her home, at a restaurant, at a birthday party or wedding and holiday gatherings, where every year her tamales were lauded as "the best yet". She had a wonderful 2014; she proudly attended the U of A graduation of her granddaughter, Rachel, and the weddings of her grandchildren, Greg and Michelle in Denver. She also traveled to San Diego, one of her favorite travel spots, to see the family of her late sister, Virginia, and for the wedding of her nephew, Frank. She celebrated her 65th year of marriage at St. Augustine Cathedral with a blessing from our Bishop. Our mom, Rachel, was one of 13 children, and is survived by her brothers, Guillermo "Billy" Lopez, Lloyd Lopez, Emilio "Mickey" Lopez, Jim Lopez, Alfonso "Ponchi" Lopez and her niece, who was as close as a sister, Cecelia "Chenka" Cota-Robles. She had approximately 45 nieces and nephews and over 150 grand and great-grand nieces and nephews; we haven't counted them in a long time. Mom was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years and then decided to work at Thomas Davis Clinic as a receptionist in the Radiology Dept. and as a translator/interpreter. When she retired she traveled and was enthralled by places she had only seen in textbooks as a child. With All our Love, Richard, Chipper, Rick, Mark and Matt. Services are at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. In place of flowers, please send donations in Rachel's name, to Santa Cruz Catholic Church or Peppi's House Hospice. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY.
