WOODWARD, John Espey "Woody"
passed away June 30, 2017. He was born June 29, 1929 in Trinidad Colorado to Gertrude and John Woodward. At 17 months John was moved to Los Angeles, CA where he resided until his retirement after a long career as a darkroom technician starting with Eastman Kodak followed by Columbia Pictures, Walt Disney Studios and Producers Photo Lab. He had a passion for photography which was an extension of his love for the beauty in all things, the golden light of a sunset, the exchange of a smile with a man on the street or the lilting sound of a tenor saxiphone. Following his retirement he relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico and finally in Tucson, Arizona. A proud Veteran of the Korean War 1951 - 1952 John served with the US Army 5th Cavalry Regiment 1st Cavalry Division, a time that changed his life forever but something he would have never changed. He never forgot to thank those who served and as a way of doing so he volunteered for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tucson for a period of time. John's life after his service had its ups and downs and this is when he was introduced to 12 step recovery and the way of life that led to many years of unconditional service to others in need, he touched many lives. Above all else it was John's love of his family and good friends that brought him the greatest joy, a loving husband, father of three, grandfather of three. A celebration of John's life will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch 5501 N. Hacienda Del Sol Rd., Tucson AZ.
