Col. Kenneth W. Johnson, U.S.M.C.
Retired, beloved husband, son, and brother, has moved on to his next great adventure. A resident of Kanab, Utah, he died suddenly on June 21, 2015 at age 69, while exploring archeological sites in the Four Corners region. A graduate of Catalina High School, the University of Arizona, and the University of Nevada, he held baccalaureate, master's, and juris doctoral degrees. While in high school, he toured the United States and Australia with the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus. As an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Vietnamese Cross for Gallantry, and the Bronze Star. A senior consultant at the Ethical Resource Center, in Washington, D.C., he helped American corporations, labor unions, and government agencies establish ethics training programs. In retirement, he roamed the canyons of Nevada and Utah with Stetson, his canine pal and constant companion, searching for and photographing ancient Native American rock art for his VegasTraces (www.VegasTraces.com) website. Ken is survived by his spouse, Carroll Johnson, Kanab, Utah; his mother, Marion Johnson, Tucson and his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Dennis and Ingrid Johnson, Central Point, Oregon; Glenn Johnson, Tucson; Michael Johnson, Phoenix, Arizona; Martha Elaine Johnson and her husband, Neil Kleinman, Tucson and Beth Donahue and her husband, Ed, Roseville, California. Ken's father, Bill Johnson; his brother, Steven Johnson and his sister-in-law, Selena Johnson, preceded him in death. The arrangements for Ken's memorial service will be made at a later date.
