COHEN, Steven, we said good-bye to Steven Cohen, 66, our beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 2, 2017 in Tucson, Arizona, when he lost his ten-year battle against scleroderma. Steven loved life and its daily renewable promise of adventure. In health, he ran half-marathons and hiked the Grand Canyon. He loved to cook with herbs and vegetables from his kitchen garden, travel abroad, and read about nature and feats of engineering. He doted on a succession of four-legged children: schnauzers, Wally, Tess and Zoey. He was an inveterate volunteer: he supported gay rights in Chicago and helped preserve the wetlands of northwest Indiana, where he relocated after retiring as the Chicago Aviation Department's director of real estate. In 2011 he moved to Tucson with husband, Michael Godnick, his loving partner of 35 years. Steven is survived by Michael; brother, Richard Cohen (Rhonda); sister, Roberta Camhi (Larry Pihl); nephews, Adam and David Cohen and Ross and Eric Magers; parents-in-law, Newton and Sherley Godnick and sisters-in-law, Jenny Godnick (Debra Karvelas) and Stacy Godnick. Donations may be made to the Human Rights Campaign (give.hrc.org/donate), Tucson Symphony (tucsonsymphony.org), or Shirley Heinze Land Trust (www.heinzetrust.org). Arrangements by ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME.
