Barbara Ragsdale Winter
Barbara, our loving mother, passed away on the morning of June 26, 2015. She was 92-years-old and surrounded by her four children. Mom was born in Milwaukee, WI, on September 23, 1922, the youngest daughter of Elizabeth Godfrey and Charles Ragsdale. She is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Virginia, Lucia, Elizabeth, Jean and Jack. The Ragsdale family moved to Wilmette, IL, where Mom graduated from New Trier High School. She then attended the University of Wisconsin and became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Mom married our wonderful father, Robert J. Winter, on November 20, 1943, in Wilmette, IL. Dad preceded Mom in death on January 8, 2010, after 66 blissful years of marriage. Mom is survived by her children, Bob Winter Jr. (Sally), Susan Winter Campisano (John), Sally Winter Haines and Laura Winter Spence (Matthew). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. After living in the Chicago area for 43 years, Mom and Dad retired to Tucson in 1986 where they lived at Ventana Canyon and were one of the first members of Ventana Canyon Golf and Racquet Club. Mom was the first person to get a hole-in-one on the mountain golf course. Mom loved to play golf and was the ladies champion at both Ridge Country Club (Chicago, IL) and Butterfield Country Club (Oak Brook, IL). She solved crossword puzzles daily and played bridge regularly with good friends. Mom will be remembered for her many friends and her love of family. Her vibrant life continued through her 92 years and we are so blessed to remember her that way.
