MARTELL, Richard, died on July 7, 2016, of complications from Parkinson's Disease. Richard was a rare vintage indeed. He will be remembered for his great wit; his soft heart, perhaps apparent only to the discerning; and his amazing courage and openness in facing the medical challenges of recent years. Richard leaves his loving wife, Judy Liebman; his dear niece, Linzi Liebman; and other caring friends and family members, both human and feline. Richard was raised in Paterson, N.J., where his high school athletic prowess, especially in basketball, was renowned. Living in New York City after graduate school, Richard became national sales manager of Frederick Wildman & Sons, a fine wine importer, and had a second career in Brooklyn real estate. In 2000 he and Judy retired to Tucson, where Richard loved golf and almost everything about his new desert home. Special thanks to the incredible team at Banner-UMC, the caring staff at Casa de la Luz, and Dr. Randall Fehr, who went above and beyond for Richard. Donations in Richard's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona or the Community Food Bank.
