Dora Sotomayor Lacome

Our beloved Dora passed away peacefully at home last Friday evening to her eternal rest with God. She had been surrounded by her children and other family and friends whom she loved and who loved her. A 1949 Tucson High grad, Dora worked as a licensed practical nurse in Tucson and New Mexico. She received local and national honors for her work as a devoted companion to senior citizens. "Nana" is remembered for her loving, independent spirit, her constant smile and her fabulous tacos and flat enchiladas. Survived by children, Mark (Annette) Salcido, Sandra Salcido and Barbara Salcido; sister, Alice Sutherland; brothers, Ramon (Gina) Sotomayor and Frank (Barbara) Sotomayor; grandchildren, Lynn (Andrew) Walanski, Cheryl (James) Engols, René (Erica) Salcido, Crystal Reyes, Jason Salcido, Mark Salcido Jr., Bryan Salcido and 11 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by parents, Florencio and Amelia Sotomayor; brother, Ernest and her first husband, Manuel Salcido. Rosary will be recited in her memory at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 followed by Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 338 W. University Blvd.
