Fiorino "Fred" DiPaolo

88, passed away on May 18, 2015. Born in Italy, he arrived in America at age nine with his parents and two of his four siblings. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, attended Columbia University on the GI Bill, and graduated with a degree in Engineering. Fred worked on the World Trade Center project for ten of his 26 years at the Port Authority of NY and NJ. That project was one of the proudest (and after 9/11, the saddest) times of his career. He was interested in many things: travel, photography, movies, music and food. During his years in Sun City, Oro Valley he became an accomplished silversmith, making beautiful jewelry for family and friends. He considered himself a lucky man, and we consider ourselves fortunate to have had him in our lives. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, dear one. Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Fannie; sons, Gregory and Philip; daughter, Ellen Ressler; grandchildren, Ariel and Zachary and sister, Velia Cintorrino. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Santa Catalina Church on May 23, 2015. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation in Fred's name, please contact the Alzheimer's Association of Tucson.
