HUNZIKER, Eugene "Gene" Phillip, Jr.
born November 18, 1952, passed away June 6, 2017, after a long hard fought battle against leukemia. He was surrounded by his family that loved him beyond measure. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Phillip Hunziker, Sr., his mother Jane Hunziker, his brother, Frank and his sister, Jody Burns. Gene is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan, their children Adam and Amanda. Adam's wife, Mindy and their children Isabelle and Jaren. Gene's brother, Richard and his wife, Jeanne and their children Dawn and Richard, Jr. Jody's children, Phil, Kenny, and Jill Davis and her children. Frank's children, Todd and Heather and her children. Gene was born in Tucson, AZ and graduated from Catalina High School. He was an Operating Engineer since he was a teenager, first working for his family's construction co., Hunziker Construction Co. and went on to work for several other construction companies in Tucson. He retired as a Superintendent after 19 years with Southern Arizona Paving and Const. Gene coached his children's Little League Baseball and Bobby Sox Softball teams for many years. He loved to go deep sea and lake fishing whenever possible. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved the Chicago Cubs and was overjoyed that he got to see his Cubbies finally win the World Series! He was always there to encourage, support, and love his family. He will always be loved and his memory treasured forever.
