Kathryn P. "Kathy" Chalfin
90, of Tucson passed away December 15, 2013, with her family at her bedside. She was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on October 11, 1923. She married Paul Chalfin July 10, 1948 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey before moving to Tucson. She worked as a secretary for Roy Drachman when she first came to Tucson. Subsequently she went to work for Arizona Mimeograph. Later on she became a full-time secretary for Joe T. Juhan and subsequently became employed by three generations of the Juhan family at Grant Road Industrial Center for 56 years. She was a long time friend and confidante of the Juhan family. She was active in St. Michael's Episcopal Church since it opened, where she sang in the choir for years and had many friends within the church. She played the piano by ear and was the life of any party. She was an accomplished bridge player and an avid reader. In December 2012 she had a small stroke and was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Her daughter came and took her home with her to Oklahoma City in February 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Ogger (Richard); granddaughter, Barbara Dubben (Jay) and their three girls, Brittany, Kellie and Haileigh Dodson and granddaughter, Melanie Ogger; sister, Margaret "Maggie" Riesz of Springfield, Virginia, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Paul Chalfin. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 602 N. Wilmot, on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Michaels Episcopal Church. The Humane Society of Arizona or Alzheimer's Research.
