Richard W. Rineer
6/20/1947 3/12/2012
Richard was born in Lancaster, PA and moved to Tucson with his family for his health and that of his brother, Ron when he was 12 years old. He spent his earlier years in Tucson in the supportive, energetic and at times mischievous company of his First Baptist Church friends. He went to Catalina H.S. and then spent some time at the UofA taking classes. He was an amazing athlete and a fierce competitor whether he was shooting pool, playing ping-pong, pitching a fast-pitch softball game, playing cards or racing his bicycle down a mountain pass. Constantly teaching himself new skills and even new sports, he excelled at all he attempted. He was a very bright and engaging guy who could light up a room with his charm, his interest, his knowledge and his knack for encouraging others. For 35 years he worked to help others through his role at New Life Health Center where he was manager of the Speedway store for most of those years. He is survived by wife, Melanie Newcome Rineer; mother, Lily May; brother, Barry and nephew, Bill. He is pre-deceased by his father, Clarence and his brother, Ron. Cremation is being handled by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel. A Celebration of Life is being planned by friends for the end of the month. "Mr. Gravity" and his trademark smile will be missed by, oh so many!
