Gilbert M. Nuñez
born December 26, 1924 in Tucson, Arizona to Jesus and Elena Nuñez. Our devoted husband and father passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice Nuñez and Artemisa Higuera; brother, William Nuñez; son, Gilbert Nuñez Jr. and Edward Nuñez; daughter, Yvonne McCormick and grandson, Kevin Amberose. Gilbert is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tillie Nuñez; daughters, Elaine Krider, Lucy Morales, Cynthia Sanchez, and Lucinda McCormick; sons, John McCormick and Eric G. Nuñez; sister, Socorro Gonzalez; brothers, Edward Nuñez and Rudy Nuñez; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Gilbert worked for the railroad for 40 years, and was a respected musician and bandleader for over 30 years. Gilbert served his country proudly and honorably in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. His love an devotion to his family and friends will greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Viewing to take place at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2580 S. 6th Ave., 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Internment will take place at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3535 N. Oracle Rd.
