TRAWICKI, Bonnie Mae
passed away in Tucson, Arizona on April 4, 2017, with her family by her side, after a very short struggle with pancreatic cancer. Bonnie was born on May 1, 1935, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Walter and Ada Warosh. She grew up in Edgar and Wausau, Wisconsin, and graduated from Wausau High School. After two years at the University of Wisconsin she attended secretarial school and went to work at Capitol Airlines in Milwaukee. She and her husband, Don knew each other growing up, and the relationship developed to love and marriage in 1956. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August, 2016, in McCall, Idaho. After their marriage, Bonnie worked for TWA in Boston and earned her PHT (putting hubby through) as Don got his graduate degree. In 1958 they moved to Milwaukee where their five children were born. In 1971, Don transferred to the New York office and the family moved to Madison, New Jersey. Bonnie continued to do what mothers do to raise five children (bake brownies for school events, drive kids to wherever they had to go, lead a girl scout troop, etc,). She also played a lot of golf and bridge. A great family activity was skiing. On Fridays she would load the kids and the gear in the van and drive into New York City to pick up Don for their drive to Killington, Vermont for the week-end. When Don retired in 1990 they moved to Tucson, Arizona, and also built a house on Payette Lake in McCall, Idaho. Bonnie was an avid golfer. She and Don took golfing trips to Ireland and Scotland, and two, month-long trips to New Zealand. In Tucson, Bonnie volunteered at the Assistance League of Tucson for many years. Bonnie was a fierce competitor in every game she played, whether it was golf, bridge, sheepshead, gin rummy or " Hand and Foot." She was notorious for betting a quarter for chipping closest to the pin with all the ladies she played golf with in McCall, at Tucson Country Club and at Ventana Golf Club. Bonnie was always cheerful, always up-beat, always ready to lend a hand or a shoulder. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She is sorely missed by her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Susan Cornish. She is survived by her husband, Don and their children, Susan (Rick) Anderson, Jane (Mark) Hanlon, John (Cindy) Trawicki, Laura (Dave Breun) Trawicki, Betsy Keegan (Marc Dorward) and ten grandchildren. A Celebration of Life is being planned for late May in Tucson. Contributions in Bonnie's name may be made to her favorite charity, the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
