The hot spot: Miller's Surplus, 406 N. Sixth Ave., 622-4777
Geared toward: The outdoorsman in all of us. The store opened in 1954 and carries a wide range of camping gear, bandannas, work boots and military garb. "It's the world's greatest store," says George Landa, marketing director. "Every night when I leave the store, I am just grateful to work here."
Invite this guy shopping: Miller's is full of testosterone, with many of its products geared toward men. Women are welcome, however, and the store carries some apparel for them.
What's worth the visit: Check out the flags that adorn the walls, and if you want to empty out your wallet, purchase the World War II-era Ducati motorcycle for $3,000.
Just because of the price: Pick up the P-38 can opener (40 cents) up front because you never know when you might have a can to open. Also, knock yourself out over the bandanna collection ($1.50-$2).
