Gertrude Mae Boonstra

Gertrude Mae Boonstra (née Post) was born in Zeeland, Michigan the daughter of Abe and Grace Post. She moved to Tucson in 1956 with her family for her health. She also lived in Saddlebrooke and Oro Valley in her later years. She graduated from Zeeland High School and Holland Business College in Holland, Michigan. She worked as a secretary to Howard Miller of the Howard Miller Clock Company in Zeeland for three years. She had been an active and loved member of Rosemont Community Church, formally Tucson Reformed Church since 1956. She also had been a member of the Saddlebrooke Mother-Daughter Group. She married John Boonstra in 1933 and they had five children. She was predeceased by her husband John, two daughters, Norma Jean and Sandra Mae, and one granddaughter Tracy La Bar Sanderlin. She is survived by a son, Jack Boonstra (Judy) of Titusville, Florida and daughters, Virginia La Bar (John) and Glenda Anderson (Karl), both of Saddlebrooke, Arizona. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the SaddleBrooke Activity Center, 64518 E. Galveston Lane. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the B+ Foundation at www.bepositive.org in honor of Gertrude Boonstra and Molly Anderson, one of Gertrude's great-grandchildren who is a Leukemia survivor.
