Celebrate National Puppy Day by adopting a friend
Friday, March 23 is National Puppy Day.
National Puppy Day was created in 2006 to focus attention on puppies in need of adoption and to educate the public about the abuses found in puppy mills. It's also an excuse (like we need one) to post adorable pictures of our four-legged friends on the internet and social media.
Here are a few who might make good friends in Pima County. While these canines might not all be puppies, they're sure to act like it when you give them some attention.

Adopt A Friend: Apple Juice
Apple Juice- female ID: 521799 Age: 2-year-old Qualities: I came to HSSA as a transfer from another shelter so they don’t know much about my past. They do know that I am a very sweet girl who is going to make someone very happy. Needs: I tested positive for valley fever, but that doesn't mean that I don't deserve a home. Valley fever is a manageable condition and HSSA will even send me home with a 6 month supply of medication. Chili - Female, Chihuahua mix, tan/white Age: 5 yrs Qualities: Loves to snuggle up by your neck. Chili likes everyone she meets and would love to find someone to cuddle with forever. Titus - Staffie mix Age: 5 years, 9 months. Qualities: "Very loving, affectionate, beautiful!" That's what his former family said about him. So why is he here? Well, he's not good with livestock and not a fan of cats, but kids he adores. There were three in the family, and Titus was always following them around as their babysitter and guardian. Fee: $85. Jasmine - shorthaired calico Age: 11 years. Qualities: Jasmine is a wonderful cat who will wake you up early with a "whisker rub" or a cold nose. Her owner only gave her up because of allergies, so if you give her lots of love and kisses, she'll return even more of them to you! Fee: $45; comes with Free Vet Care for Life. Mr. Black, DSH Age: 4 months Qualities: Mr. Black showed up at a home a couple of months ago. He was friendly but thin. He is now neutered, vaccinated and ready for a home. Mr. Black loves being petted and brushed. He prefers being the only cat but must be the only male cat. Well behaved dogs may be ok. Needs: an indoor-only home with no small children or other male cats. Adoption Fee: $50.00. Adoption includes microchip, spaying and current shots.
