Finalists from the Living River of Words Youth Art and Poetry Contest will have their work on display in a traveling exhibit that will visit may of Pima County's libraries and other locations throughout this year.
To kick off the exhibit, Pima County and the Sonoran Institute, is hosting a Living River Celebration from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Branch Library, 7800 N. Schisler Drive.
Living River of Words introduces kids age five to 19 to watershed and wetlands habitats through science investigations ad the practice of poetry and visual arts. Kids are encouraged to enter the Living River of Words Youth Art and Poetry Contest as part of the program.
Attendees of Saturday's celebration will view the children's artowrk, as well as learn more about the Living River project. They can check out the flowing Lower Santa Cruz River behind the library, join a guided bird walk and grab a copy of the first Living River report for the Lower Santa Cruz River.
