Hot Dog Heaven will end its nearly four-year run in Marana this weekend.
The storefront hot dog stand, owned by the mother and son team of David and Sandy Knight, will close on Saturday — if there are any dogs left.
"Word got out, and it's just crazy. It's been nuts. It looks like I might be out of food by Friday," Sandy Knight said early this week, not long after serving up dozens of chili dogs during the lunch rush to customers who got wind of the pending closing.
Knight posted signs last weekend announcing the closing and found herself swamped with customers. Business had been especially slow in the months leading up to the decision, she said.
"We were going three to four hours without a soul in here," she said.
Hot Dog Heaven opened in the Arizona Pavilions area in spring 2005.
