Studies show that 70 percent of young adults don't know how to sew a button on a shirt or other garment. I'd like to change that.
I've sewed buttons on shirts and pants while someone was wearing them. While that may seem a little intimate, I was doing it for my young children.
Let's face it, buttons come off your clothes before you are ready to toss them. You shouldn't have to pay someone to re-sew your button.
You can buy a small travel sewing kit for a couple of dollars. This comes with needles, thread in basic colors, pins and often a teeny pair of scissors. Everything you need as long as you found the button that came off your shirt. Some kits even come with a few buttons.
So try it out and surprise Mom when you tell her you did it yourself.
