NEW YORK (AP) — Mercedes or Mustang? John Deere or Jeep? Electric ride-ons for kids are busting out all over this holiday season.
Target will add nearly a quarter-million square feet of new space for toys across more than 500 stores. Some of that real estate will show off a broad selection of ride-ons and other large toys.
The high-end FAO Schwarz, meanwhile, is reopening its flagship store in New York for the holidays. In celebration, it's showing off a ride-on Mercedes-Benz adorned with more than 44,000 Swarovski crystals in glittery red, white and black — for a whopping $25,000.
All sorts of ride-ons for kids are available, said Jim Silver, CEO and editor in chief of the review blog TTPM . Generally, they're made for an age range of 3 to 5 and have parental control options for the highest speed settings.
"It's a growing category," Silver told The Associated Press. "The offerings, variety and detail are far greater and better than years ago."
