• Qualities: Mavis is a 103-pound bluetick coonhound (possibly mixed with Great Dane). She was picked up as a stray by animal control in April, and nobody came to reclaim this gorgeous girl. She knows “sit” and “stay” and is housetrained. She is thoroughly enjoying her walking program, which will help her lose a few pounds.
• Needs: Her healthy weight will probably be about 85 to 90 pounds. An active adoptive family willing to supervise her diet and exercise would be rewarded with a devoted friend and companion.

• Qualities: Judge gets along very nicely with his foster siblings (dogs, cats and birds). Although he is generally quiet, he has a low, deep bark and you’ll hear it if he is filling the role of watchdog. He enjoys playing with toys and other dogs and would love a family with older kids.

• Qualities: Georgia is an energetic pup, weighing about 40 pounds. She loves going for walks and enjoys running, so she would be perfect for someone looking for a jogging partner. She is intelligent, quiet and calm — an unusual combination of traits for an athletic dog — and would do well with dogs with a similar calm temperament. Georgia is a very sweet girl who would be a wonderful companion dog.
