Question: When was the Great Wall of China built, who built it and how long is it?
Answer: The earliest sections of the Great Wall were built more than 2,000 years ago to guard against Mongols and other invaders.
Other sections of the wall were built over the centuries by the many dynasties in China's history. Most of the wall that we see today was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
The Great Wall of China is now estimated to be 3,000 to 4,000 miles in length, making it one of the largest construction projects ever. Last year, China said it would use remote-sensing satellites and other high technology to verify the length.
