PIERRE, S.D. — An accident at Crazy Horse Memorial killed a motorcyclist and injured two others.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a man from the United Kingdom made a sudden lane change Tuesday in an attempt to turn into the memorial and pulled out in front of several bikers.
A Harley-Davidson ridden by 56-year-old Thaddeus Baker Jr. of Flagstaff, Ariz., hit the rear of the car. He was thrown from the motorcycle and then hit the back of another vehicle stopped in a turning lane and died from his injuries.
Two of the other three motorcyclists traveling with Baker also hit the car and were injured.
The Highway Patrol says the investigation is ongoing and did not indicate if the driver of the car, Colin MacGregor of Scotland, would be charged.
