PHOENIX — A man involved in the alcohol poisoning death of a teenage girl has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Armando Hernandez Jr., 19, was sentenced Friday in Maricopa County Superior Court after pleading guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of 13-year-old Brenda Nguyen.
Nguyen’s body was found in a Phoenix alley on Feb. 19, 2007.
Police said Hernandez — along with co-defendants Clayton Koepke, Scott Franze, and Ana Hernandez — were indicted last year after they allowed the runaway girl to consume a large amount of alcohol in less than 30 minutes.
Officials said that even though Nguyen passed out and was having seizures, the co-defendants never called for help and instead dumped her body.
Ana Hernandez, 45, pleaded guilty to child abuse and was sentenced to 2› years in prison on Jan. 18. Koepke, 19, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and Franze, 39, has pleaded guilty to child abuse. Both still are awaiting sentencing.
