An electrical malfunction from a unattended homemade cooking device may have caused a fire at a midtown duplex on Sunday morning, said Capt. Julian Herrera with the Tucson Fire Department in a new release.
When the first unit arrived on the scene around 9:26 a.m., in the 4200 block of E. Cienega Dr., the rear patio of the duplex was fully involved in flames, Herrera said. It took nine units to control the fire.
There was no one inside the residence at the time as well in the adjoining home which was not affected by the fire.
There were no injuries in the incident, Herrera said.
