The cause of a fire at a southwest-side swap meet late Sunday is under investigation, a fire official said.
It took 30 firefighters with the Drexel Heights Fire District about 75 minutes to extinguish the three-alarm blaze at the Tohono O'odham Swap Meet, 5721 S. Westover Ave., district spokeswoman Tracy Koslowski said.
The fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. when Drexel Heights received nine separate 911 calls from people living south of the swap meet, which is on the southeast corner of West Drexel Road and Westover, a few blocks west of South Mission Road.
The fire occurred in a series of storage units on the property, Koslowski said. She described the structures as "rickety" and containing a heavy fuel load, part of the reason the fire took so long to put out.
No one was on the property at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, Koslowski said.
