The jurors in the Jason Bush capital-murder trial deliberated about 2 1/2 hours Thursday without reaching a decision. They'll resume deliberations at 10 a.m. today.
Bush is accused of shooting to death Raul Junior Flores, 29, and Brisenia Flores, 9, inside their Arivaca home on May 30, 2009.
Prosecutors Kellie Johnson and Rick Unklesbay allege Bush was part of Minutemen American Defense founder Shawna Forde's plan to kill and rob drug smugglers to fund her border-protection group.
Although they said nothing to the jury, defense attorneys Richard Parrish and Chris Kimminau conceded Bush's guilt to prosecutors and Pima County Superior Judge John Leonardo at the start of the trial.
The defense attorneys said they want to preserve their credibility with the jury for the mitigation phase of the trial. They hope to sway the jury to spare Bush's life by presenting evidence about his dysfunctional childhood and mental-health issues.
