NORMANDY • Two Normandy schools were evacuated just before noon today after a bomb threat was found scrawled in a bathroom stall.
Lucas Crossing Elementary and nearby Normandy Middle School were evacuated. Superintendent Stanton Lawrence said the threat, found at the middle school, made reference to a bomb blowing up at noon.
Children were taken to the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a nearby St. Louis County Library branch while dogs were brought in to check the school. Students were taken back to the school after about an hour.
Schools have been on heightened alert since the shootings last week at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., but Lawrence said Normandy always takes student safety seriously.
