The city appointed a new finance director earlier this week.
Silvia Amparano will assume the position beginning next week. Amparano has worked for the city since 1998 and had been acting as interim finance director for almost a year.
The move frees-up chief financial officer Kelly Gottschalk to focus more time on the other departments she oversees.
For years the city used Gottschalk in the dual role of finance director/CFO. While it worked for a while, the responsibilities of overseeing the day-to-day operations of city finance grew to consume an inordinate amount of her time. So the city decided to make Amparano permanent.
Amparano will make $128,772 a year.
When casting a vote for Amparano on Tuesday, Councilman Steve Kozachik cautioned her to be careful what she wished for as she jumps into the hot seat of finance director.
