Arizona Department of Health Services director Will Humble blogged recently about questions the department has been getting about the safety of medical marijuana while breastfeeding.
His short answer: It's not safe.
"Most experts, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC advise moms not to use marijuana (medical or not) while breastfeeding," Humble writes.
Humble says the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana stays in the body for four to six weeks, and is found in the urine of breastfeeding babies whose mothers use marijuana.
