The City of Tucson Environmental Services Department today celebrated the completion and opening of new facilities at Los Reales Landfill. Some of the upgrades included a new scale house with high-tech, radio-frequency-identification reader lanes; Improved areas for Household Hazardous Waste and recycling and a new administration building. Construction of the new facilities began in 2014 and was completed in August 2015.

The foreground lane is automated so drivers can pull up, weigh in, take their weight tickets and proceed without having to leave the vehicles. The second lane is used mostly for drive-up public and some commercial haulers.

The second lane, 2A, is used mostly for drive-up public and some commercial haulers. On the weekend both lanes fare staffed by customer service reps due to heavy public use.
